    UNG IME Becas Scholarship Application 25-26


    The Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME) Becas Leadership Scholarship program is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Mexican Consulate in Atlanta, along with the UNG Foundation, funds this program, which is open to any UNG student meeting the criteria below. Please note that these funds are pending approval by the Mexican Consulate of Atlanta, and final awards might differ once and IF the grant is received.

    Scholarship Structure:

    If awarded, UNG will provide $2,000 scholarships to 12 students for the 2025–2026 academic year, with the amount split evenly between the Fall and Spring semesters. Additionally, two returning IME Becas Scholars will receive $3,000 awards to serve as IME Becas Peer Leaders, also split evenly between the Fall and Spring semesters. Priority will be given to College of Education majors with the following criteria:​​

    Scholarship Eligibility and Benefits:

    • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with a 2.50 GPA or higher, with a demonstrated financial need.

    • Demonstrated professional interest in working with or leading efforts that support the educational workforce needs of the communities served within UNG’s 30-county region.

    • Full-time enrollment (12+ credit hours), unless exempted by advisor or financial aid, and completion of at least 24 credit hours or two semesters (will accept first years if spots are not filled).

    • Commitment to the leadership program, faculty/staff mentoring, and completion of community service.


    The face-to-face Leadership Development Program (~1.5 hrs each; 7 modules/meetings a year at the DAH and GVL campuses, and attend the spring Spanish-Speaking Graduation Celebration).


    Four IME Becas Scholars majoring in education will serve as peer mentors through the Hispanic Student Peer Mentor and Leadership Program, supported by the UNG Presidential Innovation Incentive Award.

    The IME Becas Scholarship application deadline is June 15, 2025. Student interviews will occur in June/July 2025, and student selection and notification will occur in mid/late July 2025.
